Popular culture or "pop culture" refers to the traditions and material culture of a society. Pop culture is everywhere; you encounter it on the internet, when you listen to music, watch television, see a film or go to a concert. Artists, actors or even athletes become pop culture icons, for whom cinema also offers a platform. In general, pop culture is a collection of thoughts, ideas, attitudes, perspectives and (film) images that are favoured by the mainstream.
